Napier
The coastal city of Napier is famous for its 1930s Art Deco architecture, and February's Brenber Print Art Deco Weekend. It boasts an almost tropical climate with 2,200 hours of sunshine a year which many visitors choose to enjoy whilst sipping coffee in one of the 30 cafes within walking distance of the city centre. Napier's Marine Parade is its biggest tourist attraction - a stretch of coast overlooking Cape Kidnappers and the Pacific Ocean, containing the world's largest mainland gannet colony, ocean spa hot pools, a swimming complex, the Hawke's Bay museum and the National Aquarium of New Zealand. Napier's landmark is Bluff Hill which provides spectacular panoramic views of the town and coastline.
