Dunedin

Dunedin is the second largest city on the south island, and is situated within the Otago region. The Otago coastline stretches from the Waitaki River to the Clutha River just south of Dunedin. The area appeals to visitors with its varied wildlife - including the rare yellow-eyed penguins, fur seals and sea lions, quaint fishing villages, and lush, green landscapes. Dunedin and its impressive harbours were traditionally settled by Maoris over four centuries ago, but more recently have attracted whalers, gold miners and migrants from Scotland and China. Dunedin is renowned as one of the best preserved Victorian and Edwardian cities in the Southern Hemisphere.
