Picton

Picton is the the port for Interisland rail ferries which link the north and south islands of New Zealand. Picton makes a great base from which to explore the nearby Malborough Sounds region with its beautiful beaches and lush headlands. Fine restaurants within Picton itself boast appetizing menus that specialise in the area's fresh seafood. The Edwin Fox, an old sailing ship, is berthed in Picton, and is a major tourist attraction - it is the last surviving ship to have transported convicts to Australia. Picton is famous for its waters on which rowing and speedboat regattas take place along with waterskiing, sailing and fishing opportunities.
